ADVENTURELAND – DVD
The acting sucks, the direction did not help the weak plot and the movie drags to its hackneyed predictable ending. The only good thing about Adventureland comes with the cinematography that isn’t half bad.

Funny happens in I Love You, Man, an mature adult film that provides a lot of laughs. Now on DVD, the fun keeps going with some very good bonus features. The movie has a lot going for it including an unusual storyline filled with some great gags, pratfalls and scenes of total nonsense. If you like Paul Rudd and Jason Segel from Forgetting Sarah Marshall, this is your kind of film.
Get ready for blazing action ancient fighting scenes in Battles B.C. much like the ones in 300. Actually the production is set up with the same techniques as 300 and for that I am impressed. Besides being entertaining, the 8 historic battles are expertly written and based on historical accountings so they also are of educational value.
Historians, history buffs, scholars and those that want to witness the battles that took place in Europe and the Pacific during World War II get an unforgettable film experience from this DVD. I found myself glued to the screen.
Television series Dirty Sexy Money offers its second and final DVD season and it is still a seething and delicious series. The continuation of the scandalous storyline gets edgier with each episode. Excellent direction keeps the characters interesting, lively and memorable. If you are an adult that likes a lot of sexy drama, then peak in on the Darlings in Dirty Sexy Money.
I figured that when it hit DVD The Last House on the Left would lose some of its punch. I admit I am wrong as the film still exudes chilling suspense and horror even on the small screen. Producer Wes Craven shows his muscles as the master of shock even with a remake of one of his earlier hits. In my book, he’s still the master of terror cinema.
The Simpson’s never get old they just get funnier and crazier. In this 473 minute 4 disc set the show provided me with non-stop laughter, and I even had seen most of the episodes on TV already. Warning; you have to like tongue-in-cheek humor and not mind rude, insensitive, obnoxious, mindless, moronic behavior, because that’s what it’s all about.
From the get go Fighting gets into the hard-hitting plot with some realistic bare-knuckle fistfights. I’m impressed with the movie even on DVD for the acting by Tatum, direction by Montiel and cinematography. If you like movies that have a simple storyline with swift action drama revolving around gut wrenching street fights, then this film should top your card.
Disney announces it’s August releases which include Race To Witch Mountain, Sling Blade in Blu-ray, Adventureland and several TV series seasons.
The extended DVD edition of the Jonas Brothers The Concert Experience is a nicely choreographed film targeted for female teens and tweens and it surely hits the mark. Covering most all their music, the film shows well on the home screen. Although it was more of a concert experience at the theatres, I found I had more control over the action for replays and pauses. The girls will probably drive you nuts with this one, so make sure you have a DVD player in their room.
