“IT’S ‘300’ TIMES 8”

Battles BC aDVD REVIEW

Unrated but includes war violence

Genre: War/Action/Docudrama

By John Delia

Get ready for blazing action ancient fighting scenes in Battles B.C. much like the ones in 300.  Actually the production is set up with the same techniques as 300 and for that I am impressed.  Besides being entertaining, the 8 historic battles are expertly written and based on historical accountings so they also are of educational value.

The first season on the 6 hours plus two-disc DVD includes realistic accounts

of Hannibal: The Annihilator, David: Giant Slayer, Joshua: Epic Slaughter, Caesar: Super Siege, Moses: Death Chase, Alexander: Lord of War, Ramses: Raging Chariots and Judgment Day at Marathon.

Each of the episodes in Battles B.C. takes you into the depths of the action telling the stories in a way that is entertaining and enlightening. What I liked most was that I could take a break

Moses Death Chase

whenever I needed and not miss anything.  The presentation is beautifully done and does not overstate the blood and killing.  This opens the movies to mature teens and pre-teens that can grasp the historical value.

On the downside, I did find myself getting a little jaded after seeing the battles in succession, so you may want to not watch all of them in the same day as they seem to become repetitious.  Spread them out over a week or two so you can

look forward to the next clash of the titans.

FINAL ANALYSIS: The DVD is a must see for history buffs and those that want a quick glimpse at Ancient times.
