Cast Zac Efron (High School Musical) for the teens, an Orson Welles look alike to add some awe, throw in an A list actor and you have a hit. Well, that was my impression from the trailer of Me and Orson Welles, and after seeing the period drama there wasn’t much more. If you like impressions of famous people, with an above average storyline from the 1930’s, then this is you ticket to nostalgia.
There are many true stores portrayed each year by filmmakers, but no one does it quite as good as Clint Eastwood. His ability to visualize the emotion, excitement, challenges, apprehension and anxieties in his characters has always amazed me and with Invictus he outdoes himself. Touching and exhilarating Invictus is a must see.
Film stars like George Clooney are at their best in movies like Up In The Air where they can show their dramatic ability in portraying an interesting character. I enjoyed the new Jason Reitman film, just as much as his Oscar nominated Juno . Take a flight with Up In The Air and you’ll enjoy the bumps and jolts of this modern day story.
Hopefully you have seen the movie 2012 in which the world as we know it drastically changes due to a seismic calamity. Whether you did or not, what I call the History Channel’s companion piece Doomsday 2012: The End Of Days will fill you in on all the details that will challenge your mind and offer reasons why the catastrophe may be possible. Nicely documented, questionably plausible yet something to ponder over, the DVD is good entertainment.
Now on DVD, G-Force is still a very good family film filled with comedy and adventure that kids and most parents will like. The only difference here is the loss of in theatres only 3-D which made the film an even bigger hit. That said, your tots will love the film’s many bonus features and the ability to see G-Force over and over and over again.
Bringing a crime legend to the screen takes a good deal of research, good casting and impeccable direction and that all came together for Public Enemies now on DVD. Director Michael Man not only captures the essence of John Dillinger in his movie, but that of Baby Face Nelson as well. Public Enemies is probably Mann’s best, no in my opinion, it is his best film to date.
Heartfelt, heartwarming and heartbreaking, My Sister’s Keeper grabbed me, shook me and pushed me to the edge of tears. If you need a dose of family love, a fight for life and a chance to encounter what it takes to deal with a gripping situation the film is now on DVD.
The disturbing storyline of Brothers makes for an interesting and taught drama. The film takes the audience on an emotional rollercoaster that had me captured from the very beginning. Although the ending never comes, the film still entertains.
Theatres everywhere are playing the film Armoured starring Matt Dillon, Laurence Fishburne, Jean Reno and Amaury Nolasco. On a recent visit to Miami I was able to snag an interview with the rising star. You may not have heard his name a lot, but rest assured you have seen him on the big screen in the likes of Transformers, Street Kings, Max Payne, 2 Fast 2 Furious and many more. He was recentely in the television drama Prison Break. And, you are likely to see a lot more of Amaury (pronounced Amoré) in the near future as he will be playing opposite Johnny Depp in The Rum Diary.
Action is the key word for Ninja Assassin and there are copious amounts of it in the film. If you have heard of at least some of the martial arts that are displayed in the film, this is your kind of movie. I liked the stylized fighting, storyline, choreography and amazing cinematography.
