This quality television series features some of the bloodthirsty creatures that computers can generate. I am totally blown away by Tony and Ridley’s The Hunger a fine production that’s heads above most horror films. It’s Twilight for adults. Fine acting, direction and cinematography prove that it doesn’t have to be on a movie theater screen to be a big event.
The Hunger on DVD the complete second season is an erotic horror-anthology series inspired by Tony Scott’s eponymous 1983 cult film, offering up titillating terrors, buckets of blood and scores of famous guest stars.
The second season is hosted by David Bowie featuring cast members Geovanni Ribisi, Lori Petty, Jennifer Beals, Eric Roberts, Cathy Moriarty, Brad Dourif, Anthony Michael Hall and William Katt as you’ve never seen them before. Special make-up and computer graphics bring out the beasts in their characters, which live in a mesmerizing world.
Writers for the 22 episodes provide very steamy plots that are chilling yet sexy. In the episode Skin Deep, Kat seeks action at a local bar, The Threshold Club, where Roxanne, a dancer, shows her the ultimate experience in pleasure and pain. In another episode called The Seductress, Elizabeth learns that her boyfriend Jonathan is involved in the Occult and leaves him. After Jonathan commits suicide, Elizabeth is stalked by the satanic cult to which he belonged.
The 4-disc set is 616 minutes long with a bonus feature called Mr. Skin’s. The special add on shows the top ten scenes from The Hunger Seasons 1 and 2.
The DVD is unrated and contains sexuality, violence, gore and language.
