MOTHER AND CHILD Written Review

Touching, graphic and profound the film Mother and Child delivers a moving and powerful slice of life. The acting, direction and cinematography all blend into a story that fits with our modern day lives. The interesting script although more directed at couples that are childless, should hit home with people who have had to deal with situations where an important decision changed their future.

GROWN UPS written review

Take a bucketful of Saturday Night Live alumni, add director Bill Dugan who has a long list of comedies and throw in a script that allows it’s cast to show their stuff and you have a recipe for laughter. That’s what Grown Ups delivers and I don’t know a better way this hot summer to chill out at the movies.

KNIGHT AND DAY written review

If it’s a lot of intense excitement with comedic relief that you are looking for then Knight and Day will do the trick. The high-powered spy thriller takes you up and down then spins you around; it’s a cool roller coaster ride. And there’s a great deal of nonsense, absurdities and other impossible mayhem; yet that’s what makes the film fun to watch.

WHEN IN ROME Written Home Video Review

Here’s a good example of a good comedic cast working together to bring a good-natured romantic comedy to the screen. Now of DVD and Blu-ray, When in Rome translates extremely well to home theatre setting and provides a lot of laughs with some mushy amorous interludes.

JONAH HEX written review

Comic books have infiltrated the summer box-office with films like Iron Man2, Kick-Ass, The Losers and now the supernatural thriller Jonah Hex. While Iron Man and Kick-Ass have been the most successful getting an audience thus far, Jonah Hex may cause a strong surge in movie attendance due to it’s mystical content, PG-13 rating and school being out for the summer.

PLEASE GIVE written review

Here’s an amusing slice of life film that although entertains is riddled with plot tripe and miscasts. It also lives up to its name, Please Give because that’s what you will be doing at the theatre box-office. This Indie could use a rewrite or some key role cast changes.

THE A-TEAM written review

What would you expect from the director of Smokin’ Aces? Another big action thriller and director Joe Carnahan comes through. The fun ride starts with action and ends with a big bang. The comedic timing, wild stunts, great CGI/special effects and wacko storyline make The A-Team a big winner. If you are an action junkie, lover of the television series or just wanting to escape from a hectic day then this barnburner should do the trick.

PRINCESS KAIULANI written review

Historical, romantic and enlightening the true story of Princess Kaiulani inspires while it entertains. Marc Forby who writes and first time directs this wonderful period piece provides a canvas on which he paints a fight for honor, dignity and survival. If you enjoy 19th century romance like Room With a View or Howard’s End and historical period pieces such as The Dutchess you should enjoy Princess Kaiulani.

HERE AND THERE written review

Making a good romantic film is pretty hard these days, especially since most of what I have seen lately just rehashes movies with a similar theme. But, now comes along a very unique film that possesses a strong bond between actors, smart scripting and keen direction providing a wonderful screen experience. If you are a true romantic at heart, don’t miss Here and There starring David Thornton and Mirjana Karanovic.

SPLICE Written Review

What shows as a creature horror flick in the trailers on TV and in movie theatres for the film Splice, turns out to be more of a suspense filled sci-fi drama with disturbing elements. The movie is actually very good in a curious kind of way. For all you science fiction lovers who enjoy films with a ‘what if’ theme, this has your name written all over it.
