FURRY VENGEANCE written review

Nutty, quirky, silly, you can even call it ‘squirrelly’ Furry Vengeance is a great kid’s film all the way. The movie cruises along at a fair clip with a lot of pratfalls, blunders and humiliating situations providing comedy kids just love to watch. If you have youngsters between the age of 5 and 10, then start you engines and head out to see Furry Vengeance.

BACK-UP PLAN

Not everyone will like Back-up Plan, especially those who are tired of romantic comedies that fit a common formula. You know, boy meets girl, they form a relationship, then boy looses girl, etc. Although the method works well in Back-up Plan, the storyline tends to sway too far toward chick-flick leaving most of us men with a ho hum feeling.

THE JONESES written review

There’s a new game in town and it’s at the movies. A film called The Joneses features a scam that turns the world upside down in upscale communities. Well of course it’s only fiction, but it does leave the impression of ‘What If?’ That said, the acting carries this flick and it’s very entertaining in spite of some holes in the storyline and a little ‘missed-direction.’ The movie is unique and without a doubt very scarry for those on a middle-income budget. The Joneses plays well to the 24 and above target audience.

KICK-ASS written review

The Main character in Kick-Ass Dave Lizewski opens the film with, “I always wondered why no one did it before me?” Did you ever wonder why no one has ever really tried to be a super hero? It can’t be hard, you just need a cool costume, the desire to defend the innocent, and just want to kick some ass! We all know that super heroes are comic book characters like Spiderman, Wolverine, and Iron Man, but if you like to fantasize about being like them or just like watching movies with lots of violence, and predictable scenes with a script that makes you laugh, then you are a target for Kick-Ass.

A PROPHET written review

The mesmerizing crime film A Prophet gets rolling quickly and then settles in to some interesting character development and storytelling to it’s twisted ending. The acting, directing, cinematography are superb making it a must see for film buffs, prison drama lovers and filmmaking students. A Prophet was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Film.

CLASH OF THE TITANS written review

Teen males and action adventure lovers who have not seen the original (and I bet not many of you have) will probably love Clash of the Titans. Packed with CGI fight scenes that sprout flying devils, a slithering Medusa, and a gigantic Kraken teen males will get the chance to see some cool action on the huge screen and give them a break from their video games. Although the film is a worth see, I felt the 3D was not as good as it should be. In fact, due to the darkness caused by the 3D glasses, I recommend seeing it in 2D.

CHLOE written review

Here’s a little film that reminded me of an Alfred Hitchcock thriller, but with an erotic touch. Very suspenseful, great characters, intriguing and with artful direction, the movie Chloe burns up the screen in this unsuspecting strange love story. The acting is courageous, especially on the part of both Julianne Moore and Amanda Seyfried.

GREENBERG written review

Here’s a little drama from Academy Award-nominated screenwriter/director Noah Baumbach that gets so depressing it looses the enjoyment of it’s love story that is really at the heart of the plot. Greenberg reminded me of several Woody Allen films all rolled into one. The main characters are so down in the dumps that whatever comedy there may have been gets sucked up in all the complaining.

HOT TUB TIME MACHINE written review

Indie and foreign filmmakers are hitting the mark with good productions while some US producers are cranking out films that target the cash cow. Take Hot Tub Time Machine for example. This loony Three Stooges meets Back To The FutureHot Tub Time Machine movie inserts a bevy of goofy pratfalls, eye candy, adult situations, insults and sexual innuendos in a mere 100 minutes. And although rated R, it’s sure to attract the younger crowd looking for some crude and nude humor. If you want to get sucked into the whirlpool of silly than fits the bill.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON written review

Highflying fun for the whole family, How to Train Your Dragon is an adventure comedy with a lot of heart. The animation is slick, direction pinpoint and voice acting on target. If you are looking for a great fun evening with the kids or for the kid in you, then this flick should do the trick.
