MY WEEK WITH MARILYN, review by John Delia Jr.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to meet someone you admire very much and this someone is the rage of the whole world? Most everyone has had visions of meeting some famous person that they idol, but what you see in My Week With Marilyn will bring those wonders alive. It’s a true story that makes me happy to see her come alive again on the screen.

MACHINE GUN PREACHER review by John Delia

Director Marc Forster who gave us Quantum of Solace and Monster’s Ball brings Machine Gun Preacher to the screen and drives home a winner. His production of the true story of the merciless killings in East Africa and one man’s untiring commitment to helping children in the path of civil war provides a chill that’s hard to forget.

SOUL SURFER review by John Delia

Emotional and moving the true story of Bethany Hamilton called Soul Surfer makes its way into movie theaters across the nation. Without a doubt the best film about recovery from a tragedy I’ve seen in decade. If there is one film you see this year, make it be Soul Surfer, you will be truly inspired.

SHAKE HANDS WITH THE DEVIL on DVD review by John Delia

This gut wrenching true story, Shake Hands with the Devil, reminded me a lot of Hotel Rwanda, but that isn’t a bad thing. The film brings to light more of the atrocities, reasons for war and the intimidation the UN peace keepers had to face. Incredible good filming presents the era, country and it’s people realistically both in a period of adjustment and conflict. I liked this film very much and recommend it highly to those who want a taste of Director Roger Spottiswoode suspense filled storytelling.

CASINO JACK review by John Delia

Well acted and directed Casino Jack provides a scary look into government politics and though the eyes of super lobbyist Jack Abramoff. It’s Kevin Spacey at his best with a brilliantly cringing performance that tells all about the government gangster who goes out of control. With Barry Pepper at Spacey’s side, this film comes up a winner.

I LOVE YOU PHILLIP MORRIS review by John Delia

Here’s an odd love story that is actually based on fact. It’s called I Love You Phillip Morris and features interesting roles by Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor who fall in love when they meet as prisoners in a penitentiary. Daring performances heat up the screen with their oddball characters challenging the criminal justice system and social standards.

THE BAADER MEINHOF COMPLEX

Completely engrossed is the only way I can describe my seeing The Baader Meinhof Complex. The film is based on a true story that shows the effects of terrorism and the determination of left-wing extremists. Insightful yet despotic the film made me cringe at times seeing the lengths and means terrorists will go to make their point. It’s an astonishing film that reaches deep into the gut of an activist group that really changed Germany over a ten-year span starting in the late 60’s and brought the meaning of terrorism to the forefront.
