WECOME TO THE RILEYS written by Alyn Darnay

WELCOME TO THE RILEYS is a powerful drama that ultimately proves to be a film of redemption. It starts down one road and turns unexpectedly down another; as a matter of fact that is what’s so good about it, it avoids the usual clichés and plows very interesting territory in interesting ways, truly adult ways. I have to admit that the first 15 minutes or so left me rather cold, but then all of a sudden I found myself dragged into the story and really enjoying it.

WELCOME TO THE RILEYS review by John Delia

Let me start out by saying that I have never seen Kristen Stewart in a role like she plays in Welcome to the Rileys. This is not teen heartthrob Kristen from the Twilight saga, and that’s a good thing. In fact, it’s the main reason to see her new film in the first place. That said, the supporting cast isn’t too shabby also with the likes of James Gandolfini and Melissa Leo.

BURLESQUE review by John Delia

It’s a Christina Aguilera concert with Cher as the guest performer, that’s the only way I can describe Burlesque an amazing musical drama that knocked me off my feet. Much like Chicago, Moulin Rouge and Cabaret the storyline is not why you go to see the film, it’s singing performance after singing performance from the amazing talent that graces the screen. Burlesque is a breath of fresh air in a season of action, adventure and animation.

127 HOURS review by John Delia

Gutsy and gripping true story 127 Hours takes the spunk out of boulder climbing. It’s a ‘what would you do?’ film that shows how one man took radical measures to save his own life. The film is well acted by James Franco and directed by Oscar winner Danny Boyle.

FOR COLORED GIRLS review by John Delia

The disturbing and provocative film For Colored Girls hits the screen from its long run in legitimate theatres. With a cast of African American super stars, superb writing/direction the movie provides a canvas of characters that are touching, gut-wrenching, crass, emotional, protective, desperate, weak and abused due to the situations in which they find themselves.

THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNET’S NEST review by John Delia

The final chapter of the perils of Lisbeth Salander, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest has come to theatres and it is a stinger. Tying up all the loose ends, giving credence to the first two episodes and adding an explosive ending, the film delivers the final blow. If you have seen the first two films, then this last one will give you closure.

THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNET’S NEST reviewed by Alyn Darnay

Ok, let’s put it out there right from the beginning, the third installment of The Millennium Trilogy is as good or better than the rest of the series and a worthy addition. It recaptures the provocative appeal of the outstanding first film, tones down the action/violence of the second movie and wraps up everything with a true thrill ride consisting of an intelligent plot, the continuation of great performances by a very talented cast, and delivering a beautiful and most satisfying finale.

THE SOCIAL NETWORK written review

The age of technology takes an interesting turn in The Social Network, a mesmerizing biopic about the creation of a dream that turned into a billion dollar business. It was so good and perfectly played out I found myself wanting more of the acting, directing and amazing story. The toughest part is not being able to grade the film more than excellent.
