LA MISSION written review

Choosing a taught drama about the neighborhood that he grew up in, Benjamin Bratt surfaces in La Mission. Written and directed by his brother Peter Bratt, the film reconstructs the one time barrio of the two filmmakers adding a powerful script that delves into love and the unexpected.

I AM LOVE Written Review by Alyn Darnay

At its core I Am Love is a complex and tragic melodrama, often breathtakingly beautiful. Set at the turn of the millennium in Milan, Italy, the film follows the fall of the Recchis, a wealthy industrial family, by the forces of passion and unconditional love that assail their world from every side.

MOTHER AND CHILD Written Review

Touching, graphic and profound the film Mother and Child delivers a moving and powerful slice of life. The acting, direction and cinematography all blend into a story that fits with our modern day lives. The interesting script although more directed at couples that are childless, should hit home with people who have had to deal with situations where an important decision changed their future.

PRINCESS KAIULANI written review

Historical, romantic and enlightening the true story of Princess Kaiulani inspires while it entertains. Marc Forby who writes and first time directs this wonderful period piece provides a canvas on which he paints a fight for honor, dignity and survival. I liked the film because it gets into the grit of crime, confrontation, discrimination and hatred that can make life a hell. Well-acted, directed and presented Ajami is a must see for adults.

ME AND ORSON WELLES

Cast Zac Efron (High School Musical) for the teens, an Orson Welles look alike to add some awe, throw in an A list actor and you have a hit. Well, that was my impression from the trailer of Me and Orson Welles, and after seeing the period drama there wasn’t much more. If you like impressions of famous people, with an above average storyline from the 1930’s, then this is you ticket to nostalgia.

PUBLIC ENEMIES on DVD

Bringing a crime legend to the screen takes a good deal of research, good casting and impeccable direction and that all came together for Public Enemies now on DVD. Director Michael Man not only captures the essence of John Dillinger in his movie, but that of Baby Face Nelson as well. Public Enemies is probably Mann’s best, no in my opinion, it is his best film to date.
