This nicely played out story based on the actual memoirs of an affair is simple and amusing. Although it is somewhat similar to Lolita, being an actual happing does give it an edge over the famous themed film of older man soliciting a teenager. But, An Education is a love story no matter how distasteful or prurient as the acting and direction make it entertaining.

It has been said that good things come in small packages and this little film is no exception. The movie Desierto Sur does a brilliant job of bringing a story of sorrow, determination and discovery to the screen that’s touching and convincing. It’s the kind of film that you will remember long after the movie theater credits roll.
It’s campy and self-serving, but Gotta Dance is a must see for documentary lovers that want to enjoy a good laugh and ponder over ageing. And, if you are a New Jersey Nets basketball fan, you’ll enjoy it even more.
When it comes to musicals it’s the thrill of watching an interesting character in a dramatic or comedic role burst into song or dance that makes the magic. Although the remake of Fame does have some very good musical numbers, it fails to provide the exciting characters that carry out the story.

Crammed with an ‘all in a days work’ philosophy, director R. J. Cutler provides a keen insight of an industry that caters to a woman’s style and ego.
Watching this film and listening to the amazing sounds for the guitars of Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page, U2’s The Edge and Jack White was entertaining and enjoyable. For those who have an interest in rock music, the documentary is a must see.
Ang Lee hits the mark with this excellent adaptation of Taking Woodstock from the memoirs of Elliot Tiber. Lee takes us back to that magical event in 1969 like no one has ever done before. I loved the way he got me involved in the storyline from the very beginning to his inevitable ending. Cool and groovy man!
Going into this film I was wondering why I was covering a film called Bandslam, but I’m glad for the assignment. This sweet teen-tween film really rocks. Topped off by some great songs by Alyson Michalka and very good acting by a fine support cast, the movie is one of the teen oriented summer’s best.
This documentary has soul, sounds and sovereignty on its side and cashes in on all three. Focusing in on Zaire and its people Soul Power provides some blasts from the past.
