Remember when Michael Bay and Roland Emmerich each had some sort of identity crisis and pledged to make smaller movies outside of the action genre? Emmerich managed to break free, at least for one project, and we’ll see his curious looking political thriller Anonymous later this year, but Bay couldn’t say no to a third Transformers movie and the promise of worldwide domination it guarantees. The funny thing for us here: This is the first time we’re anticipating a Transformers storyline, if only to discover what happens to Mikaela Banes. And let’s see if Bay makes good on his promise to delve deeper into the toy line’s mythos, while exploring darker emotional realms of his human characters as well.
