“Toy Story 4” Arrives on 4K and Blu-ray

Among the top Disney/PIXAR films Toy Story 4 adds a new chapter that will take you on an unexpected adventure about friendships, courage and even a major romance. The film Toy Story 4 continues with the whole gang and some new toys that find themselves on a trail that puts them in danger like never before. But, as usual though some ingenuity, teamwork and a whole bunch of luck they complete their quest. Toy Story 4 is fun for the whole family with some nice twists you will not see coming. Now available for home viewing or “anywhere” in many formats.

The story opens nine years previous during a horrific rainstorm with a lost toy outside the house. To rescue RC the racecar toy Andy, Buzz and Jessie go into Molly’s room and spot her Bo Peep lamp on the night stand. When Molly leaves the room Andy asks Bo Peep to help rescue RC. Along with several of Molly’s toys including the Barbie Dolls they accomplish the task. But it’s not without loss as Bo Peep gets picked up by a collector. It’s the last time he’ll see Bo Peep, or so they thought.

So begins a new chapter in the house where the whole gang now lives and are the possessions of 5-year-old Bonnie. There’s chaos with Bonnie going off to her first day in kindergarten and against the rules, Woody hides in her backpack. So begins the adventure with Woody and the gang going on an unexpected road trip with Bonnie and her new toy form kindergarten craft time, Forky.

Director Josh Cooley takes the helm for this installment of the toys and he does a great job with his screenplay. He puts in a lot of funny situations and heightens the action with a trip that includes Historic Grand Basin, a carnival and an unforgettable antique store the scene for a reunion that leads to romance. But, that’s not all, because the gang has to become super sleuths as they get embroiled in a plot to free their long lost friend from a diabolical crew of puppets.

All four of the Toy Story films have been favorites for me, mostly because of the nostalgia created each time one ends and I’m always looking for another chapter. I know this one ends with Woody all glassy eyed, but there are several hints during the RV trip and the raid in the curio store that there could be a spinoff of sorts. Like Buzz going on another adventure into the universe where he meets alien toys. The movie could be called “Toy Story to Infinity and Beyond”. Or the toys go on a picnic and they are taken by some brats with Bonnie’s father searching for them. Why not?

Final Comment: A sad ending to a fantastic film franchise. (5 out of 5 Stars)
