At one point, this was the most anticipated superhero film of the year, but after the entirely welcome X-Men: First Class and the surprisingly effective Thor, Hal Jordan and company are facing a crash landing at the box office since the early reviews are reinforcing what fans have thought all along: this is one misguided, CGI-gooey super-mess. It’s kind of sad, really, since the project got off the ground with such promise at Comic-Con last year. Let’s see how it does worldwide, though.
