I wish I could say that The American is a thrill a minute, but it isn’t. It would be nice if I could tell you that the story is something new and different, but not that either. I want to say that George Clooney does a terrific job of acting, well THAT I CAN SAY and it saves the movie. The film targets the over 20’s male that likes suspense, intrigue with slow moving character and story build up. The ladies will love George Clooney.
Inspired by a true story, Get Low transports the audience to the late 1930’s for a very unusual event. Top notch acting, directing and smart cinematography makes the film an exceptional piece for those that like their drama with some dark comedy. Get Low stands a chance for award nominations in all aspects, especially the acting of Robert Duvall and Bill Murray.
A sweet family film about innocence, puppy love and a whole lot of getting even has come to theatres just making it in before summer’s end. The movie is called Flipped and like the title ‘I’ve flipped over it.†The movie has a heartwarming storyline, great soundtrack and stellar acting in every sense of the word. Flipped is a family film that everyone can enjoy and it’s my light and lively feel good film of the summer.
Up until now I had thought that the Complete Collection of Friday the 13th held the record for most blood, gore and sick ways to die, that is until I saw Piranha 3D. Some may challenge me on this point, but I know they will lose. If you like your films with a lot of dismemberment, flesh tearing, human entrails dangling, decapitations and more, then this sicko is right up your ally.
If you are looking for a very good film with some great acting, direction and an offbeat storyline then rush to see The Extra Man. Kevin Kline and Paul Dano give performances that show they are on the top of their game. This is one comedy that should be on every film buff’s top ten for 2010.
Foreign films have taken hold of America with genre’s that feed the action generation more so than romance lovers. Fitting that category comes an action thriller from the Dominican Republic. Although not the best acting and direction I’ve seen in a crime film, the storyline does provide, if reasonably based on true incidents, an interesting look at a third world government gone awry.
Not all movies are what they promote in theatre trailers but Eat Pray Love is an exception. So if you have seen the movie trailer than guys you know what you are in for. The movie hits it’s female target audience with pinpoint precision offering three stories each a step toward the feminine viewpoint on separation from a loved one, forgiveness of the act and a muffin top.
This is a quirky tale of stalking and romance that to me really didn’t come off the screen that well. It’s called Wild Grass and the film may become my choice for the dullest foreign film of the year. Droll acting, lackluster direction and a limp camera turn what could have been a good script into French onion soup without the cheese.
