This step-by-step insight into how the CIA found Osama Bin Laden and then blew him away is nicely produced, directed and acted. I found Zero
The strong emerging cast combined with a compelling story makes Red Dawn a strapping box-office contender in the crowed film arena. Aimed at teen
It’ not often enough that we can get reminded in film of some of the more dismal times from the past, especially those that show ‘man’s inhumanity to man.’ This happens to be the case of La Rafle (The Round-Up) a French film that captures a period in history covering the cruel extermination of a helpless people, including children in the 1941-45 France. The movie has a sorrowful tone that resonates throughout yet a must see to remind us that the world we live in is so fragile.
George Lucas, known for his adventure and science fiction films, tears a page from the WWII war history book and produces Red Tails a true story of courage in the face of adversity and discrimination. Much like Spike Lee’s Miracle at St. Anna the backdrop of war becomes the field on which we see the selfless devotion of African-American soldiers helping to maintain a free world. I like the way director Anthony Hemingway tells his story based on true events with a kind heart and forgiving hand, even though the situation was probably more disparaging than he shows here.
The film’s running time does the movie an injustice with the long detailed and slow roll out of the script. Taking endless time with holy chants, prayer and repetitive character development, Of Gods and Men looses it’s meaning and reason for showing the story on the big screen.
A lot of work and energy went into Battle: Los Angeles, but all for naught. The filmmakers use a shaky cam throughout the whole movie similar to the films The Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield. I was really puzzled since the trailers are mostly steady shots. The bouncing gets so annoying that it takes all the punch out of the film.
Historians, history buffs, scholars and those that want to witness the battles that took place in Europe and the Pacific during World War II get an unforgettable film experience from this DVD. I found myself glued to the screen.
A raw action sarcastic dramady, Inglourious Basterds is one of Tarantino’s best no-holds-barred in-your-face who-the-hell-cares I’m going to film it for my audience and they will love it, masterpiece. If you are into tasteless humor with a lion’s share of brutal sadistic war related violence and a little tongue-in-cheek changing of military history, then jump in your tank and drive to the nearest theater with your best bud. The film is a hoot!
