What shows as a creature horror flick in the trailers on TV and in movie theatres for the film Splice, turns out to be more of a suspense filled sci-fi drama with disturbing elements. The movie is actually very good in a curious kind of way. For all you science fiction lovers who enjoy films with a ‘what if’ theme, this has your name written all over it.
I think that Bruce Willis is probably the best all around film star that has survived nearly three decades without a dud. And with Surrogates it’s a near miss. Just eking above average, the film survives with some awesome special effects and Willis’ creative performance. If you like science fiction that goes hyper realistic, then Surrogates should be on your DVD short list.
Darkly written, keenly animated, stuffed with cool characters, the action adventure 9 is an excellent film that entertains from beginning to its thrilling ending. I enjoyed Shane Acker’s moving and futuristic message of machines overtaking the earth.
On August 21, 2009, director James Cameron’s motion picture epic AVATAR will get screen attention when Twentieth Century Fox and Cameron debuts the film’s trailer everywhere – while select cinemas and IMAX® theaters will screen extended footage prepared by the filmmaker. The release date for the film is slated for December 18 of this year.
