The French really know how to make a lighthearted sexy comedy and the proof comes in a very funny and provocative film called The Names of Love. Although complicated as most French comedies are, the quirky little film puts on a good show.
It’s crazy and yes it’s stupid and not much more than that. While I found myself wondering why Steve Carell would make a movie this mediocre, hackneyed and not a lot of fun to watch, I realized he just didn’t have his “Office†on for Crazy, Stupid, Love.
A period piece with a lot of style, good acting and directing Bride Flight inspired by a true event provides a visual delight for romantics. I liked the film for its characters, the interesting story and New Zealand photography. If you take your romance served slowly yet gracefully then Bride Flight’s a delicious treat.
Take your time with The Art Of Getting By although the story has a simple plot Director Gavin Weisen spools his movie out slowly providing an abundance of character development. Although this may be a good thing for film buffs, it’s not the kind of entertainment for those who like their romance with a lot less buildup.
If you missed the first season or any part of The Glades, it’s now out on DVD. The weekly cop show has a whole lot of entertainment built around a fine cast that keeps you coming back week after week. And with it being on DVD you can watch each episode without those pesky commercials. I like The Glades and find the series to be suspenseful mixed with romance and humor.
Nicely written, Midnight in Paris does entertain with a romantic interlude in beautiful Paris. The characters are pleasing and Woody Allen’s direction impeccable. The movie is perfect for a dinner and a date.
After watching this movie I came to the conclusion that one may not want to “jump the broom†anytime soon. Now don’t get me wrong here, the movie Jumping The Broom is great and I recommend you see it with a loved one. However, the drama of the quick union between the couple with such diverse families will give you second thoughts of saying “I do.â€
The quirky comedy Ceremony features a great cast under the direction of first timer Max Winkler. It’s Max’s entry into the world of controlling a set, actors and final production of a film. Having written the script for Ceremony helps him pull off a nice little comedy that entertains.
This romance good girl bad girl story works well in Something Borrowed, but only a ‘chick’ would care. Like all chick flick films I review however, leaning toward how much fun it would be for the ladies adds up in my final grade. If you like your comedy with a lot of sugar and spice, then ladies this film should be desert for you.
The 2011 version of Red Riding Hood has a lot going on (love triangles, betrayal, revenge, murder and the list goes on) yet, this seemingly overwhelming plot is simple to follow and will have you in a trance throughout.
