Not many westerns get an opportunity for a remake, and frankly True Grit should not have fallen to Hollywood’s whim. Outside of some brief signs of good acting, there isn’t much more to cheer about. Even the cinematography in this outing, which was a big part of the original, doesn’t make the film any better. If you have already seen True Grit with John Wayne, then I do not recommend seeing it all over again with Jeff Bridges.
Well they remade another horror flick and this time it’s A Nightmare on Elm Street. Since the advent of CGI it’s been a scare fest of returns like Jason, Michael Meyers, Leatherface, Amityville and more. But, this Nightmare is a welcome rehash as it provides more of the story of why Freddy is invading the dreams of teens on the forsaken street.
When it comes to musicals it’s the thrill of watching an interesting character in a dramatic or comedic role burst into song or dance that makes the magic. Although the remake of Fame does have some very good musical numbers, it fails to provide the exciting characters that carry out the story.
