“Cinema Paradiso” releases on a single-disc Blu-ray package featuring Giuseppe Tornatore’s 1988 Italian drama, which is also known for its significant touches of romance and comedy. Its story revolves around a filmmaker’s recollection of his childhood, the time when he fell in love with movies through the village theater.
Like modern action movies that keep adding more CGI and bigger explosions, horror movies these days try to entertain their jaded audiences with increasingly elaborate and gruesome effects. On Halloween, however, some of us are just looking for a good scare and an entertaining thriller of a story.
