TREE OF LIFE review by John Delia

Could one compare the Cosmos with a 1950’s conflicted family? With Tree of Life director writer Terrence Malick tries to do just that. Although he may succeed on an existential level, a general audience will just see a family in disparaging change that picks at the heart and soul of their relationships. I am not a big fan of the film and found Tree of Life to be preachy and more of a meditation on my own life problems.

One of the top animated films for 2010 has hit the screen, and the adventure is fun to watch. Even though skewed a great deal toward an adult audience, Megamind does have all the silliness that children love. If you want a family film that reaches out to a wide audience and has excellent voice acting then you need to see Megamind.

THE TREE OF LIFE goes to Fox Searchlight Pictures

LOS ANGELES, CA September 9, 2010 – Fox Searchlight Pictures Presidents Stephen Gilula and Nancy Utley announced today that the company has acquired U.S. rights from River Road Entertainment to the epic drama THE TREE OF LIFE. Written and directed by Terrence Malick, THE TREE OF LIFE stars Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain. The film was produced by Bill Pohlad, Sarah Green, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Grant Hill. Fox Searchlight Pictures will release the film in 2011.

If you are into tasteless humor with a lion’s share of brutal sadistic war related violence and a little tongue-in-cheek changing of military history, then jump in your tank and drive to the nearest theater with your best bud. The film is a hoot!
