Gamers and action junkies will have a treat in store with the release of Tron: Legacy a computer game plot with spunk. The fast paced adventure may be a sequel, but plays well to first timers. If there is a downside to the film, it’s that adults 35+ will probably not like or even understand the storyline. But, if your ilk is getting in front of a screen with your X-Box and driving home a winner, then Tron: Legacy should get your motor running.
Sparks are flying in Disney’s newest film release The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The action adventure takes off quick with some very cool special effects, creates an interesting love story melding a 740 AD romance with a modern day crush and then puts on a crescendo of fabulous fireworks. Although the film will certainly entertain grade school kids, this grown-up tags the film with average marks.
If it’s a lot of intense excitement with comedic relief that you are looking for then Knight and Day will do the trick. The high-powered spy thriller takes you up and down then spins you around; it’s a cool roller coaster ride. And there’s a great deal of nonsense, absurdities and other impossible mayhem; yet that’s what makes the film fun to watch.
What would you expect from the director of Smokin’ Aces? Another big action thriller and director Joe Carnahan comes through. The fun ride starts with action and ends with a big bang. The comedic timing, wild stunts, great CGI/special effects and wacko storyline make The A-Team a big winner. If you are an action junkie, lover of the television series or just wanting to escape from a hectic day then this barnburner should do the trick.
Jumping right into action, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time starts its non-stop adventure and it’s mighty good. Jerry Bruckheimer knows how to produce films making something out of nothing and from a cool video game he puts together a filmmaking team that comes up a winner. If you are a gamer and you like your movies with a lot of excitement, swordplay and chases you will definitely want to catch this film.
That funny, rebellious and feisty ogre has a new adventure and it’s pretty darn good. Laden with funny comments, snappy dialogue and a decent script, Shrek Forever After is fun for adults and the rest of the family. Oh. You thought Shrek was only for kids? Well guess again, as this forth edition of the crazy life of green swamp ogre goes straight for adults and achieves its goal with just reward. The kids you ask, they’ll be too busy laughing at Shreklets (I just invented the word. It means a baby Shrek; ogerlets just doesn’t work for me) burps, donkey complaints, an overweight cat, wicked witches and much, much more. You can bet your Chimichangas the whole family will love it.
Another film based on a comic book called The Losers blasts into theatres and although the acting isn’t as good as in Kick-Ass, it still entertains. The dark action adventure is more like the upcoming A-Team rather than the ‘superhero’ script of Kick-Ass and The Losers lacks their hard-core dialogue. But, if it’s high-energy thrills you are looking for then look to The Losers for a shot to kick up your male testosterone levels.
Astrid Bergès-Frisbey has been selected by producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Rob Marshall to star in the key role of Syrena, a beautiful and alluring young mermaid, in Walt Disney Pictures’/Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ epic adventure Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, the fourth in the blockbuster series of films. Bergès -Frisbey joins Johnny Depp, returning in his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow. The film is slated to open on May 20, 2011.
The Main character in Kick-Ass Dave Lizewski opens the film with, “I always wondered why no one did it before me?†Did you ever wonder why no one has ever really tried to be a super hero? It can’t be hard, you just need a cool costume, the desire to defend the innocent, and just want to kick some ass! We all know that super heroes are comic book characters like Spiderman, Wolverine, and Iron Man, but if you like to fantasize about being like them or just like watching movies with lots of violence, and predictable scenes with a script that makes you laugh, then you are a target for Kick-Ass.
