Teen Review by Ian Delia

Who would’ve thought an animated TV show could be this good? Star Wars has always had a big place in my heart and definitely still does. If you still have questions about what happened between episode 6 Return of the Jedi and episode 7 The Force Awakens then you are going to need to watch this television series. It may have the age appropriate rating of “TV-Y7″ but that never means it’s not excellent or unimportant. In fact I think this is crucial to the whole aspect of what goes on with and how the First Order comes to be. First off this show is amazing and second of all, everything is now settling in my mind because it answers all the questions I’ve had since the time gap between episodes 6 and 7.

Kazuda Xiono “Christopher Sean” also known as Kaz is a young pilot with all navy ship experience, but no spy skills. And what do you know? He gets chosen to be a spy by order of the Resistance. He is very curious yet a little too friendly. In his position, friendliness is not a trait you should have. He befriends everyone he meets and sometimes it leads him into situations where he’s unknowingly aiding the wrong side “the First Order”. Kaz also makes enemies along the way. Believe it or not, some of the enemies he makes are by him saving their lives. Others he makes due to his keen suspicion. He might not make the smartest of moves but he does a good job as a rookie spy.

Kaz’s mission is the stay on a refueling platform called “The Colossus” and keep a look out for intel information on the First Order. I case you didn’t know, the First order is the new Empire but bigger, stronger, and more powerful. Everyone on the Colossus can be very suspicious and definitely twofaced, so Kaz has a lot to look out for. And with the First Order constantly at the Colossus, Kaz has a lot to avoid to keep his cover. The people aboard the platform think that the First Order is there for their protection, but in reality are there to take it over for their own nefarious purposes.

There are also some characters that are from the actual Star Wars movies. For example there is the resistance flight army Poe Dameron (voiced by Oscar Isaac). In this series he’s the one who truly believes in Kaz and appoints him as a spy. Poe also has a friend already placed on the Colossus, Jarek Yeager (voiced by Scott Lawrence) but everyone calls him by his last name. Poe has Yeager keep an eye on Kaz while aboard the Colossus. Yeager’s a mechanic in the same hanger where Kaz meets his trustworthy friends. His crew is made up of 3 other people by the names of Tam (Suzie McGrath), Neeku (Josh Brener) and Bucket who is a very old R2-D2 looking droid.

Tam is a great mechanic and is the owner of the firebolt, a ship that’s notorious for hurtling into flames, hence the name firebolt. Neeku is a very annoying green creature who doesn’t stop talking, takes things too literal, and can’t ever keep a secret. But all in all they make a great team.

The show is awesome as it takes me back to the original Star Wars and wow’s me with new adventure. It is phenomenal and definitely a great source of information never revealed in the Star Wars movie series. The DVD is worth watching and one you can’t help but binge upon. There are 21 episodes in the season, each is about 22 minutes long.
