We have reached the fifth movie in this series and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales keeps its promise and out shines the previous installments. The adventurous stories continue to follow the life of one lucky but amazing Pirate, that finds a way to discover all treasures and to live another day.
The son of Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), Henry (Brenton Thwaites) wants to find a way to free his father’s curse. He will stop at nothing to discover a way to complete this task. When he determines that it is Poseidon’s Trident that will end all curses he joins the British navy to try and locate it.
When Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem) appears from the dead, a message is delivered to Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp). That he is coming for him for revenge of the Devil’s Triangle. Salazar begins to rule the seas and destroy all the ships in his wake on his quest to find Sparrow, even the fleet that Captain Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) commands. With the two ruthless villains on his tail, Jack must flee with his crew to avoid death by the sword.
Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario) is a star gazer that has been accused of being a witch for her large knowledge of science. She is in search for her father who left a diary that leads to a treasure map that no man has ever read. She runs into trouble at every turn and needs to find a way to escape it. Hooking up with Sparrow, she finds that he may be the only one that can help her.
Finally, Jack is his usual self, causing trouble and avoiding capture. He and his crew muddle their way through adventures and somehow end up on top. But, this time his luck may have run out, until he comes in contact with Carina and Henry. Together they embark on a voyage that is sure to entertain.
Directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg put together a masterpiece. The storyline is amazing and delivers an adventure worth riding on. The special effects were truly breathtaking and they also went one step further using the three dimensional format. The directors out did themselves here and with the team of writers, Jeff Nathanson, Terry Rossio, Ted Elliott, Stuart Beattie, and Jay Wolpert, they put together the best pirate film to date.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is a fantastic adventure that will thrill and amaze all who see it. It delivers amazing visuals, and a very cool storyline that will keep you entertained with laughter and surprise throughout. This journey’s worth taking and should be considered a must see film for 2017.
