Review by John M. Delia, Jr.

When you feel you didn’t get the most out of your youth, going back to college can answer most of your middle aged problems. A crazy story that will have you rolling in the isles and gasping for air from pure honest laughter.

After dropping her daughter, Maddie Miles (Molly Gordon) off at college (Decatur University) for her senior year, Deanna Miles (Melissa McCarthy) finds out her husband Dan Miles (Matt Walsh) wants a divorce. Deanna is devastated and doesn’t know where to turn. To make things even worse Dan has a girlfriend Marcie (Julie Bowen), and wants to sell their home. Since everything is in his name she has nothing, and needs to find a way to be able to support herself.

Melissa McCarthy in LIFE OF THE PARTY

Since Deanna never finished school and has always been a stay at home mom. She decides to enroll at the college she never completed, Decatur University. After 23 years of marriage Deanna is starting over. The good news is that her best friend Christine (Maya Rudolph) and her husband Frank (Damon Jones) give her the support she needs.

A scene from LIFE OF THE PARTY

Director, writer, and Uber driver Ben Falcone does it all to make this comedy a success. He puts together an incredible storyline that allows each actor to presents their character’s role perfectly. His efforts permitted the story to be extremely funny and display and remarkable but wacky way to go about changing your life’s path.

All and all, this is a very funny movie that will definitely brighten your day. It’s is an excellent date night or guy’s/girl’s night out type film that will encourage some reminiscing at the end.

Final Comment: I based my grade on the hysterical storyline and the spectacular performance. (4 out of 5 stars)
