(Fort Lauderdale, FL) – July 11, 2011 – Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLiFF) presents their annual French Film Festival, sponsored this year by LaCroix Water, July 28 – August 1, 2011 at Cinema Paradiso. The LaCroix French Film Festival will showcase 15 French films over the 5 day event featuring the latest in French Cinema and soirees with French Cuisine.
The festival kicks-off Thursday, July 28 at 6:00pm with a menu of French favorites including Chicken Cordon Bleu, Beef Bourguignon, Herbed Potato Souffle, and desserts. Following the buffet at 7:30pm is the delectable comedy and recent surprise hit in France, ROMANTICS ANONYMOUS starring Benoît Poelvoorde (Coco Before Chanel), Isabelle Carré (Private Fears in Public Places).
 
Revving up the weekend on Friday, July 29, get a belly-full of laughs with the comedy JE NE SUIS PAS LÀ POUR  ÊTRE AIMÉ and the Cesar award-winning, wildly funny THE NAMES OF LOVE rev-up the weekend on Friday, July 29.  A reception with French wine, cheese and baguettes can be enjoyed prior to THE NAMES OF LOVE.
Saturday morning, July 30, bring the kids to the animated feature MIA AND THE MAGOO, a fable-like journey of a young girl who must overcome her fears on a quest to find her father and save the world from destruction. MIA AND THE MAGOO features the voices of John DiMaggio, Whoopi Goldberg, Matthew Modine, Wallace Shawn, James Woods among others.  Presented by FAB! Films for Kids, the admission is FREE for children, $5 Adults and includes Sorbet after the movie! .
The afternoon continues with a Ballet in Cinema presentation of CHILDREN OF PARADISE the Paris Opera Ballet; the surprising and moving new film CURLING by director Denis Côté and three comedies: SILENCE OF LOVE, THE DAY I SAW YOUR HEART, and and QUI M’AIME ME SUIVE.  The evening offers an array of almost every Quiche imaginable during the Quiche Affaire.
Sunday, July 31 start the day with Cafe Cinematheque featuring a traditional French breakfast and the lavish and visually sumptuous, bittersweet, historical drama MOTZART’S SISTER.  A discussion led by foreign language cinema expert, Shelly Isaacs, follows the film.  Sunday afternoon FLiFF features LA RAFLE, a faithful retelling of the 1942 “Vel’ d’Hiv Roundup” and the events surrounding it. Also showing Sunday afternoon is the comedy-drama about immigration, LE MAINS EN L’AIR and the bittersweet comedy, FROM THE AGE OF REASON.  Round out the day with the Closing Night Soiree featuring Potage et Salade and wrap up the evening with a French Cabaret with live performances by dancers from Cupcake Burlesque.

The final evening of films on Monday, August 1 features the comedy, A HAPPY MAN, starring Pierre Richard and Sylvie Testud plus one additional film to be announced.  Between the two films, FLiFF will present live French music and a lite nosh.
Venue: Cinema Paradiso is located at 503 SE 6 Street, in downtown Fort Lauderdale on the south bank of the New River just east of the Broward County Courthouse.
Parking is free after 6pm weeknights in the Courthouse parking garage and at meters; on Saturday parking is free in the Courthouse garage and after 6:00pm at meters and on Sunday parking is free all day in the Courthouse garage and at meters.
