While we never thought the fourth chapter would happen with both Johnny Depp and director Gore Verbinski, we’re happy they’re still working together (who imagined that Rango would be both a critical and commercial hit?). We’re also interested to see what Rob Marshall will do with a butch cast of characters — after seeing his box-office fortunes diminish in the wake of Chicago’s success. Speaking of the cast, no offense to Will Turner or Elizabeth Swann, but could you ask for better new faces than Ian McShane and Penelope Cruz? Ditto Stephen Graham and Gemma Ward! Do the tepid critical reviews even matter here?
