Review by John M. Delia, Jr.

The live action version of Kim Possible that recently aired on The Disney Channel has been released on DVD for home or on-the-go viewing. The actors are not hand drawn in this one so they had to depict their characters closely as possible to the original in the Animated version that aired back in 2003 and they are perfect. Rated G for the whole family the exciting adventure will probably be a bigger hit for the elementary thru Middle School, but dad and mom it’s a lot of fun to watch with even your littlest tyke.

Just entering High School, Kim Possible (Sadie Stanley) and her partner in adventure Ron Stoppable (Sean Giambrone) take on a new world as Freshmen. They have just come off an action packed saving of the world against Professor Dementor (Patton Oswalt) with the help of computer whiz kid Wade (Issac Ryan Brown) and the whole school knows who they are. But, since they are the newbie’s they will still have to take their bumps and her best friend while in middle school Bonnie Rockwaller (Erika Tham) is going to make sure of it.

One day while leaving for home from school, Kim and Ron spot Athena (Ciara Riley Wilson) a newbie like them, but down in the dumps over not having any friends to pal around. Feeling sorry for her, they take her under their wings and offer to let he go on their next adventure against the evil Dr. Drakken (Todd Stashwick). When Athena “shows up” Kim Possible with her martial arts skills, things start to go downhill for Kim with the freshman class nominating Athena for Freshman of the Year.

The film goes on from there as Dr. Drakken along with his sidekick Shego (Taylor Ortega) get a device to take down the world. Directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein do a great job converting the characters to live action and create a lot of explosive adventure. With the main cast following their leads, the put on very good performances that the teen crowd should surly emulate, especially since Kim is all about style, morals and keeping friends.

BONUS FEATURES:

“Blooper Reel”- a good many mistakes make this special feature fun to watch. It also shows it’s not easy to act in front of a camera.
“Q&A with Sadie and Sean”- Sadie Stanley and Sean Giambrone take questions that were sent into the producers. They are geared to teens and the do a fine job of answering the variety of questions.
“Cast Auditions” The auditions for Sadie as Kim, Sean as Ron and Issac Ryan Brown as Wade. It’s their first reading and you can easily tell why they were chosen over the many kids that must have tried out for the parts.
“Music Video” Sadie Stanley sings the main theme song “Call Me, Beep Me” while scenes are shown from the film.

Kim Possible has been rated G by the TV Bureau. Outside of the peril that the main characters go through and some explosions, there’s not many other elements from the movie that should bother viewers.
