‘Madea’s Big Happy Family’ invites fans to participate in the ultimate food fight
MIAMI, FL – In Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family, three generations of family and friends come together and live life at the dinner table. To commemorate family and celebrate bonding over family dinner, Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family is hosting a Restaurant Wars promotion in 23 cities across the country. Madea fans can vote for their favorite participating local restaurants – their home away from home, where family and friends gather over great food to mark life’s many occasions.
The Restaurant Wars promotion runs through the release of the film on Friday, April 22, when one winning restaurant will be announced per city. Additionally, one random voter per winning restaurant will receive a $500 gift certificate for the family feast of a lifetime.
Miami’s Restaurant Wars’ contenders are all local, home grown establishments and include People’s BBQ and Arline’s Seafood.

Madea, everyone’s favorite wise-cracking, take-no-prisoners grandma, jumps into action when her niece, Shirley, receives distressing news about her health. All Shirley wants is to gather her three adult children around her and share the news as a family. But Tammy, Kimberly and Byron are too distracted by their own problems: Tammy can’t manage her unruly children or her broken marriage; Kimberly is gripped with anger and takes it out on her husband; and Byron, after spending two years in jail, is under pressure to deal drugs again.
