Short Films, Features and Documentaries

25th Anniversary Event to be held October 22 – November 11

(Fort Lauderdale, FL) September 21, 2010 -  This year marks Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival’s (FLiFF) 25th Anniversary. As part of the celebration, FLiFF presents a host of pre-festival films and events, from September 27 – October 21, leading up to the main event beginning October 22.

As part of the pre-festival line-up, FLiFF pays homage to 24 years of programming independent film and world cinema with FLIFF Rewind, presented by Autonation.  FLiFF Rewind features a film from each year of the festival beginning with 2009 and winding back in time to 1986.

FLiFF Rewind will be laced with films at Cinema Paradiso including: Cairo Time, Women Without Men, Salt of This Sea, Army of Crime and Cherry Blossoms.

As FLiFF Rewind continues, beginning October 5,  FLiFF introduces an official selection of short films and documentaries accepted for the 2010 film festival.  “We received an over abundance of wonderful short films this year. With only one auditorium at Cinema Paradiso, we opted to showcase these festival gems prior to the main event October 22- November 11,” commented Gregory von Hausch, President and CEO of the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival.

The short films are presented within 12 compilation programs titled to reflect the themes of the shorts; The Office, Hmmm, Why Can They Be Like We Were, On With The Show, The Dating Scene, Love Is In The Air, Love Means Never Having to Say You’re Sorry, Family Bonds, Short & Gay, Justice Served, Redemption, and a Florida Shorts program titled Come’On Down.

Paired with the Short & Gay program are festival features The Battle of Pussy Willow Creek and Bear City. Additionally FLiFF presents two 2010 selected documentary films within the pre-fest, Gerrymandering and The Legend of Lawrence Arabia.

Several filmmakers will be attending the screenings of their short films.

FLiFF will accept festival Fast Passes for all films from September 27 – November 11.  The main event which presents a new crop of films, celebrity guests and parties begins October 22 and continues through November 11, 2010.
