The premise of the movie Fall may sound a bit ordinary, but you would not believe how much danger can be put on the screen in an hour and 47 minutes. The film Fall kept me on the edge of my seat from the very begging to the finish. This Tall tale is a heart pounding thriller. But be forewarned, if you have vertigo, bring along a barf bag.
Giving too much information about the film may ruin it for you, but I found that knowing some information early on will be helpful. A married couple Dan (Mason Gooding) Becky Connor, and Becky’s best friend Shiloh “Hunter” (Virginia Gardner) are avid cliff climbers. Mostly inseparable, the three have climbed unsurmountable mountain faces. But when tragedy strikes, the two women find their selves at the top of the fourth tallest structure in the world. The key to enjoying the film is understanding that the fictional characters have no fear of heights, have incredible balance and are conditioned to be able to handle the severest situations.
Nicely written and produced, the movie has a lot of twists and surprises that should keep you engrossed and waiting for the next unimaginable thing to happen. Writer/director Scott Mann uses a lot of daring scenes, some cliff hanging and a lot are near death, and most of which you may not see coming. It’s high anxiety off the chain.
The exciting acting by Grace Caroline Currey and Virginia Gardner as best friend climbers caught up in a bad choice situation is convincing. As Becky, Currey falls for a chance at the impossible to get over her anxiety of climbing, and Gardner’s Hunter is just plain psycho trying to be a first in the climbing world. The two make the film work and put on an exciting show that moves along so intensely it takes your breath away.
Fall has been rated PG-13 by the MPAA for bloody images, intense peril, and strong language. Films that expand your imagination to thrills that include heights have always made me feel like I was standing on the edge. And this one tops the cake giving it 5 out of 5 Stars for those who get thrills from being at unthinkable heights. I purposely left out the trailer for the film so you would not pick up on the twists.
