Review by John Delia
Definitely a guilty pleasure, the series Creepshow has released their first Season on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital. Yes it’s very creepy as the title suggests and it even has a lot of cool stories that are totally ludicrous in a good way to make you laugh. What makes this collective body of work extra special however, is the comic book style introductions and the very hideous monsters you’ll be exposed to. You’ll want to watch it a second time in about 6 months.

There are a dozen episodes each as “terrifying†as the next with titles like “Gray Matterâ€, “The House of the Head†in the first issue. The next issue has “Bad Wolf Down†and “The Fingerâ€, comic issue 3 has “All Hallow’s Eve†and “the Man in the Suitcase†followed by issue 4 featuring “The Companion†and “Lydia Layne’s Better Halfâ€, The next two issues have “Night of the Paw†and “Times is Tough in Musky Holler†bringing up the finale with “Skincrawlers†and the final screamer “By the Silver Waters of Lake Champlainâ€.
The first and second disc have commentaries by the directors and in some cases writers for each of the six features. Disc 3 has all the Extras and there are many.

To give you a taste of what is in the collection here is a quick morsel of the first episode Gray Matterâ€: Teen Timmy Grenadine has come to the general store to get his homebound father some beer. It is during the pending Hurricane Charlie a fierce category 4 storm heading for their small town and the people are asked to evacuate. Timmy tells the shop owner Dixie Parmalee that his father is changing for the worse and he does not want to go back home. The Police Chief Connors and the Doc are having a cup of coffee in the shop while the radio mentions that the 14 year old Grady twins are still missing and that due to the hurricane all searches have been stopped. But that’s not all, there’s a mysterious moss growing on a box of Harrow’s Supreme beer that the Chief Connors and Doc are about to deliver to Timmy’s dad.

Special features on the DVD and Blu-ray include:Â
“Cast and Crew Interviewsâ€
“Behind the Scenes Footageâ€
“Creepshow Season 1 Easter Eggs Featuretteâ€
“Audio Commentaries with Cast and Crew†are on each of the discs accompanying the features.
“Episode and Comic Art Photo Galleriesâ€
“Comic Art Booklet†Physically in the box with the 3 discs.
And more!
Creepshow Season One has not been rated by the MPAA but contains language, violence, gore, ghastly body parts and other offensive visuals. It’s a lot of fun if you are into Horror Comedy the way this series presents it. You should watch the DVD, Blu-ray first before allowing youngsters to see content.
