BROTHERS

The disturbing storyline of Brothers makes for an interesting and taught drama. The film takes the audience on an emotional rollercoaster that had me captured from the very beginning. Although the ending never comes, the film still entertains.

NINJA ASSASSIN

Action is the key word for Ninja Assassin and there are copious amounts of it in the film. If you have heard of at least some of the martial arts that are displayed in the film, this is your kind of movie. I liked the stylized fighting, storyline, choreography and amazing cinematography.

THE ROAD

Think desolation, wasteland and survival when you go to see The Road. The film is brilliantly directed, acted and photographed showing the dreary side of the closing stages of civilization. I liked the taught drama and what if storyline in this purposely depressing film.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON

Sometimes I wish I could turn back the clock and be a teenager again, because you really have to have their scope of reality to enjoy The Twilight Saga: New Moon. I know it is a story of star-crossed lovers much like Romeo and Juliet, but maybe I just can’t take slow. You have to really LOVE the characters and actors to enjoy this sequel.

PRECIOUS

There are many things that can bother me, but when it comes to child abuse it’s a subject that comes right up there at the top. Depicted in Precious, I was totally disheartened for the main character and sympatric to her cause. The film is a must see for all mature adults.

MACON CITY a Comic Book Stage Play

I have seen a lot of stage plays in my time, but never one performed comic book style. Macon City now playing at The Naked Stage on the campus of Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida takes a chance on the tricky art form and comes up a winner.

2012

There have been many disaster movies though the years, but none as brilliantly depicted as 2012. Whether the storyline is plausible or not, the film provides a breathtaking 2 hour roller coaster ride. The film integrates a number of catastrophic events including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, ash storms and many more into a heart pounding realistic movie of seismic proportions. If you see one last movie in 2009, and are a true action junkie, then it should be 2012.

THE FOURTH KIND

Believe it or not, The Fourth Kind, a true story is more freaky than Paranormal. Director Osunsanni takes true video footage of an incident that took place in Alaska, couples it with some good acting by Jovovich, Patton and Koteas to create a gripping tale that’s creepy. If you like science fiction that challenges your mind then this film should fill the void.

THE BOX

Well, bad news here, The Box is slow moving, poorly directed and therefore has weak performances. The trailer which seems to promise a science fiction thriller ends up to be an enticement to a storyline that looses its credibility early on in the film. I wish I could give you a saving grace point that would help The Box as I really wanted it to be a great watch, but sci-fi lovers will probably have to wait for 2012.
