SHREK FOREVER AFTER written review

That funny, rebellious and feisty ogre has a new adventure and it’s pretty darn good. Laden with funny comments, snappy dialogue and a decent script, Shrek Forever After is fun for adults and the rest of the family. Oh. You thought Shrek was only for kids? Well guess again, as this forth edition of the crazy life of green swamp ogre goes straight for adults and achieves its goal with just reward. The kids you ask, they’ll be too busy laughing at Shreklets (I just invented the word. It means a baby Shrek; ogerlets just doesn’t work for me) burps, donkey complaints, an overweight cat, wicked witches and much, much more. You can bet your Chimichangas the whole family will love it.

Ladies, if you are looking for romance with a touch of sports so you can get that significant other out to the movies, check out Queen Latifah’s newest flick Just Wright. With this film, even men who shy away from a film that even hints chick flick will enjoy the fun filled story and a close look at the world of basketball.

ROBIN HOOD written review

This isn’t the way I remember the adventurous rob from the rich and give to the poor Robin Hood or Sherwood Forrest’s Merry Men for that matter, but the action, direction and admirable acting make for a good film. The only concerns I have are the length of the movie, the clouding of the original myth and some jumpy camera work combined with scenes that came out of nowhere that do distract. If you like a lot of action and enjoy Ridley Scott films (Gladiator, American Gangster and Black Hawk Down) then mount up and Robin’s Merry Men.

IRON MAN 2 Written Review

There will be no stopping the power of Iron Man 2 with all the media hype, great trailers and television spots leading the way to a box-office winner. Having seen the film I can say that for comic book enthusiasts, sci-fi superhero fanatics and high-powered action lovers your expectations will be fulfilled. If there is a flaw in the film get hold of a dictionary and look up the word absurd. But it’s not going to deter the sale of tickets at the boxoffice for a number of weeks.

A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET written review

Well they remade another horror flick and this time it’s A Nightmare on Elm Street. Since the advent of CGI it’s been a scare fest of returns like Jason, Michael Meyers, Leatherface, Amityville and more. But, this Nightmare is a welcome rehash as it provides more of the story of why Freddy is invading the dreams of teens on the forsaken street.

FURRY VENGEANCE written review

Nutty, quirky, silly, you can even call it ‘squirrelly’ Furry Vengeance is a great kid’s film all the way. The movie cruises along at a fair clip with a lot of pratfalls, blunders and humiliating situations providing comedy kids just love to watch. If you have youngsters between the age of 5 and 10, then start you engines and head out to see Furry Vengeance.

TOMBSTONE now on Blu-ray

Now on Blu-ray HD Tombstone, which was originally released in theatres in 1993, becomes an event rather than just a DVD. The film features great cinematography that lends to the action and drama of this very good western. The remarkable picture showing the old west in all it’s glory and gore is definitely worth a watch.

ARMAGEDDON comes to Blu-ray

It doesn’t seem possible that Armageddon can be more explosive than in theatres, but seeing it on Blu-ray comes close. I was totally blown away with the detail, color and picture quality that this movie delivers in a home setting. The movie is a classic with an all-star dream cast, imaginative storyline and awesome special effects/CGI.

THE LOSERS

Another film based on a comic book called The Losers blasts into theatres and although the acting isn’t as good as in Kick-Ass, it still entertains. The dark action adventure is more like the upcoming A-Team rather than the ‘superhero’ script of Kick-Ass and The Losers lacks their hard-core dialogue. But, if it’s high-energy thrills you are looking for then look to The Losers for a shot to kick up your male testosterone levels.
