WILD GRASS written review

This is a quirky tale of stalking and romance that to me really didn’t come off the screen that well. It’s called Wild Grass and the film may become my choice for the dullest foreign film of the year. Droll acting, lackluster direction and a limp camera turn what could have been a good script into French onion soup without the cheese.

THE EXPENDABLES written review

Here’s an adventure film filled with action actors that really has screen presence including Sly Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li and more. Each actor in his own way muscles his character and thinks brutality is a way of life. You can see the aging killer elite in the bloody kick butt film called The Expendables.

STEP UP 3D written review

Wow! Step Up 3D takes dance to a higher level through three-dimension cinematography with explosive eye-popping dance routines. Tweens to Twenties will get the most out of the film, especially if dance and music fuels your fire.

COUNTDOWN TO ZERO written review

Here is a good documentary that will scare you to death knowing what a nuclear bomb would do if those in possession have a desire to end the world as we know it. It’s called Countdown to Zero and although it may be a fairytale in getting all the countries to agree to nuclear disarmament, it’s an eye-opener. Much like The Cove that actually got a country to stop killing dolphins, this at least is a step in the right direction.

THE OTHER GUYS written review

This year has hatched some entertaining cop/espionage comedic action adventure films like Cop Out, Knight & Day and The Killers and now the summer offers a real belly laugher called The Other Guys starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. The movie touches all the right bases, shatters the funny bone and makes silly a good word.

DINNER FOR SCHMUCKS written review

Silly, silly and more silliness, but that is what make Dinner for Schmucks fun to watch. The film does start out very slow, but it gains momentum leading to a hysterical ending. You’ll have to like the acting of Paul Rudd and Steve Carell to really get the ultimate comedic benefit from the film.

COCO CHANEL & IGOR STRAVINSKY written review

Last year’s Coco Before Chanel now continues with a new lead actress and very brazen content. Beautifully photographed and directed, Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky is a gem for the art lover and film buff. If you have been smitten by Chanel’s rise from rags to riches, then this is a must see film.

SALT written review

Kicking it up a notch, Angelina Jolie takes on the role of Salt a hard-hitting heart-pounding thriller about espionage on American soil. The film takes off running and never stops even at the very end. It’s an energy boost for action lovers and I for one loved it.

It’s a different kind of love story that deals with family and changes within our society. It’s called The Kids Are All Right and it is very good. The excellent acting and keen direction make the challenging storyline real. If you would like to check out the other side of the coin involving gay relationships, this is the film for you.

9500 LIBERTY written review

The movement to control illegal aliens in the United States has reached the big screen with the showing of 9500 Liberty in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The documentary delves into the issue confronting modern day America that had some beginnings in Virginia a few years ago. Filmgoers who read my reviews know that I am not to fond of movies that are politically motivated no matter which party or group, but I will say this film deals with a very current, important and fascinating topic.
