Written Review by John Delia

Although you do not have to watch the original Ice Age film that came out in 2001, the spinoff The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild will probably be a good time to introduce your youngsters to the several sequels that started it all. This episode is filled with laughter and exciting adventure for the target audience of early youth to ten years old. I like the way they introduced the new characters and that they kept the series on a level that should not be too disturbing to the very young.

The story starts out with a recap in flashbacks of the original Ice Age and includes some scenes from a couple of the sequels that bring the setting up to date leading to Buck’s new episode. In this chapter Possums Ed and Crash want their independence from the family and consider moving away. However their idea runs amok when they get lost in a cavern where they think they have found the “lost world”. But it’s not the adventure they thought it would be when they meet up with a long lost friend the weasel Buck and his new friend Zee, a Zorilla. a female skunk-like animal.

It’s all fun and some creative adventure as the quartet of Ed, Crash, Buck and Zee meet up with arch enemy Orson a triceratops dinosaur who wants to take over the lost world. The animated story is about family, friendship, courage, working together in harmony, love and changes in the world that make for good family viewing. The adventure is light and amusing and the antics are comparable with the other Ice Age films.

You can see the film on Disney+ starting on January 28 of this year. The MPAA has rated the film PG for some action and mild language. For the immature young, you may want to watch the film with your child the first time around. Watch the trailer for the film below. (5 out of 5 stars for the youngsters)
