THE STONING OF SORAYA M.

Finding myself shocked by some of the scenes in the true story of The Stoning of Soraya M, I realized that reviewing this film would not be simple. Wanting to let everyone know that this is an important film however does make it easier. I found the film much like The Passion of the Christ where you just want to say STOP, this can’t be happening.

ADORATION

An interesting film, Adoration brings an emotional story to the screen that although a good premise, fails to entertain. The storyline has a number of plot points that slowly come into play, each adding to a central character driven theme that vacillates so much that it looses it’s entertainment value.

Totally mesmerizing, I found myself glued to the screen much like a good book you just can’t put down. If you like films with great performances of subject matter that challenges your emotions, then I recommend Camila Jam.

Bringing a crime legend to the screen takes a good deal of research, good casting and impeccable direction and that all came together for Public Enemies. Director Michael Man not only captures the essence of John Dillinger in his movie, but that of Baby Face Nelson as well. Public Enemies is probably Mann’s best, no in my opinion, it is his best film to date.

SEVEN POUNDS

Seven Pounds is a Sixth Sense type of mystery drama, telling all the plot will give too much away. I liked the film very much and if you are into movies that have a twist, then it’s a must see for you. Transition form the big screen to DVD did not change the suspense or the quality of the performances.

US Treasury Agent Ben Thomas (Smith) is on a personal mission that will affect the lives of seven strangers. The extraordinary journey is one of redemption, kindness and fate. During a short span of time Thomas will touch the hearts, minds and futures of his subjects, each not knowing why. When everything comes together, however, it’s up to the audience to decide if the end justifies the means.
