The comedy You Again provides a lot of laughs from the oddball characters and kooky plot in this newest Touchstone Pictures DVD/Blu-ray release from Disney. It even plays better on the small screen because you can rewind the laughs and replay some of your favorite scenes. Mostly aimed at the girls the film can be watched by most all the family.
The plot of this comedy tells the story of Marnie (Kristen Bell) a twenties woman who finds herself at odds when her high school nemesis when she becomes the bride of choice for her brother. This sets up a wild and funny reunion of the two. When the bride’s mother shows up and Marnie’s mother finds it’s her archrival from high school past, things start getting out of hand.
The actresses chosen for the film are perfect casting. They are comical in the roles of the completing moms and daughters. I like the way director Andy Fickman (The Game Plan) leads his characters into one funny situation after another. His ability to pit the strong ‘A’ list actors against each other makes for a great show in itself.
The special features on the DVD include Following Fickman: On the Set of the Director showing how he gets the comedy to work; Ask the Cast with advice from the likes of Jamie Lee Curtis and Betty White; Funny or Die featuring a behind-the-scenes interview spoof with Curtis and the cast.
The Blu-ray disc, in addition to what is on the DVD includes a very funny Blooper Dance Party and additional deleted scenes.
