Emerging Pictures and Legacy Recordings have partnered to present the U.S. theatrical premiere of THE HARMONY GAME: The Making of Bridge Over Troubled Water, a new documentary on the creation of the classic 1970 album. The film features interviews with Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, as well as their collaborators from the period.
THE HARMONY GAME: The Making of Bridge Over Troubled Water, which celebrates Simon & Garfunkel’s crowning masterpiece, will be released in March as part of BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER: 40th ANNIVERSARY EDITION. This deluxe CD+DVD set from Columbia/Legacy (a division of Sony Music Entertainment) includes the original 11-song album and the new feature-length documentary THE HARMONY GAME, directed by Jennifer LeBeau. Also included is the never-before-commercially-available 1969 TV special, Songs of America, directed by Charles Grodin.
THE HARMONY GAME will have a limited US theatrical run through February and March. Advanced copies of the 40th Anniversary CD+DVD will be given as raffle prizes at every screening before becoming available at physical and digital retail outlets on March 8.
THE HARMONY GAME tells the story behind Simon and Garfunkel’s last studio album – Bridge Over Troubled Water – which has its legacy shrouded in rock n’ roll mythology with legendary tales of inspiration, innovation and separation. Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel share the journey in their own words and reflect back on its impact 40 years later. Also featured in the documentary are several of the duo’s collaborators from the period: Roy Halee (co-producer/engineer), Hal Blaine (drums), Joe Osborn (bass guitar), Jimmie Haskell (arranger), Mort Lewis (manager), and actor Charles Grodin, director of Songs Of America [more info below].
THE HARMONY GAME includes scenes from the controversial CBS television special Songs Of America, the candid, behind-the-scenes look at Simon & Garfunkel at work on Bridge Over Troubled Water, which aired on CBS in November 1969 and has not been available on VHS or DVD since.
