A once great writer for a popular magazine makes a mistake that might just cost him his life. After writing a story on a CEO of a large corporation, Mikael Blomqvist (Daniel Craig) must face the challenges made by the false information. These challenges bring him far away from London, England to the small but wealthy community of Hedestad, Sweden. There he is in charge to investigate a 40-year-old disappearance of a woman with the assistance of a computer hacker, Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara).
Blomqvist, played by Daniel Craig, is a writer being sued for printing false information given to him by his informant about a corporate company and its president. Daniel Craig does an excellent job playing the investigator that is in the wrong place at the wrong time. With all the clues adding up, and no safe place to go, Daniel shows what Blomqvis must do to solve the case and save his life.
Lisabeth Slander, played by Rooney Mara, is a mentally unstable woman who comes from a broken family that has her entrusted to the state for all her expenses. She has an excellent ability to find anything on anyone, and becomes very valuable to Blomqvist on his most current quest. Rooney does a great job playing this dark character, especially through many intense sexual scenes. She is charged with having to play a very complex individual that really makes you wonder what Lisabeth Slander is really all about. This character is almost pure evil at some points, but expresses great passion at others. Slander is an interesting character that grabs your interest and Rooney does an excellent job portraying her.
Adapted from the novel by Steig Larson, this screenplay of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo has an excellent storyline that keeps the audience’s interest, starting with two different stories that lead the characters through their ordeal. Finally, it comes together with one investigation that intertwines both theses characters into a thrilling, but passionate story that makes you wonder what will happen next. The action, investigation, and twists and turns kept me interested throughout the film.
