JUNE LOCKHART TO RECEIVE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

BOCA RATON, FL – The Annual Palm Beach International Film Festival (PBIFF), which takes place Thursday, April 12, through Thursday, April 19, will present the Lifetime Achievement Award to beloved actress June Lockhart at their Silver Screen Splash, a Sunday brunch event that will take place at The Lake Pavilion on the Waterfront on April 15.

“We are thrilled to be able to honor the lovely June Lockhart at this year’s festival,” says Executive Director Randi Emerman.  “Throughout her career, not only has her popularity held strong, but also her enthusiasm and dedication for her craft.”

June Lockhart is a third-generation performer, influenced early on by her grandfather, who was a noted singer, and her parents, who were both actors.  She made her film debut at the age of twelve, appearing as Belinda Cratchet in the Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol, starring Reginald Owen and also starring her parents as Mr. & Mrs. Bob Cratchet.  She went on to appear in many famous films such as All This and Heaven Too with Bette Davis and Charles Boyer; Sergeant York with Gary Cooper; and Adam Had Four Sons with Ingrid Bergman…all before finishing school.  Upon graduating, she signed on with MGM and appeared in a few time-honored film favorites:  The White Cliffs of Dover, Meet Me In St. Louis, The Yearling and Son of Lassie.  Leaving MGM, she appeared in her first Broadway play, For Love or Money, winning several awards, including a Tony Award for Best Debut Performance.  Lockhart is perhaps best known, however, for her starring roles in three iconic television series:  Lassie, for which she received an Emmy nomination, Lost In Space and Petticoat Junction.   Lockhart continues to work in many features and television shows while also devoting much time to be active with charities, such as International Hearing Dogs, The Radio & Television News Directors Fund, the Santa Monica Police Department’s Mounted Patrol, to name just a few.  She remains supportive of NASA, influenced by her time on Lost in Space, and she is on the board of directors and actively supports the Lake Arrowhead Film Festival, presenting the June Lockhart Award each year.

Lockhart co-stars in the film Zombie Hamlet, which will have its World Premiere at PBIFF.  The film is directed by John Murlowski and also stars Shelley Long (who is also attending), John Amos, Melora Hardin and Travis Wester.
