In its own weird way, the plot of 1987 film “RoboCop” has become the perfect analogy for the sorry state of the movie industry in 2014 – an industry that’s more than willing to suck the humanity and meaning out of the original ideas and characters that we used to see at the theater, increasingly replacing them with remakes, reboots and sequels that often are a mere shell of the original concept.
