Out on DVD comes a romantic comedy that provides memorable laughs. The film is called Love Hurts and the star-studded cast does a great job in bringing it to the screen. The bonus features are a nice addition, but mostly for the cast interviews.
The story centers on Ben Bingham (Richard E. Grant) a mild mannered husband who has a marriage going for 20 years. But, he has taken his life with the wife for granted thinking that what he’s doing is keeping the romance burning, except it’s not. When his wife Amanda (Carrie-Ann Moss) decides to leave him he panics and thinks he just has to change a little to get her back. When he enlists his son Justin (Johnny Pacar) to help him socially however, the comedy takes off with some very funny situations.
I like Grant in this film, he has the look of a vulnerable person to begin with, so when the shoe falls the film becomes very comical. In support Moss’s Amanda does a number on Ben by hooking up with a hunky gardener forcing him to seek out his macho self. The whole situation comedy becomes a fun watch from beginning to end.
The storyline has been used before, but with this cast it’s worth the look see. Being able to pause and rewind some of the comedy adds to the bonus of watching it on DVD.
The bonus features are few but fairly good. I did like the interviews with the cast, but beyond that the movie is why you get the DVD.
