“Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures” It’s not just for kids

Targeted for a male audience, the “Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures Season 2”, flies into homes with twelve episodes that are geared for fun and action. All the roles from the movie series from Star Wars four to Star Wars six are on board in Lego shapes, but still have the same sounding voices and personalities that made the episodes famous. There’s even a touch of the Rogue force for good measure. Filled with comedy, sight gags and challenges, the new characters can be considered their own addition to the Alliance.

The Freemakers are a family of siblings lead by Rowan who has discovered he has powers of the Force. He works along with his brother Zander and sister Kordi as a family unit that has formed a crew to help the Alliance against the Empire. The Freemakers have the knack of salvaging parts to keep the TIE Fighters working and have become important to the cause. They are also innovative, courageous, faithful and even heroic. Called upon when the Alliance needs them the most, the squad always comes through, even though it’s done the hard way.

This season finds the crew working through tough times solving problems and assisting the Alliance in the following episodes. “Trouble on Tibalt”, The Tower of Alistan Nor”, The embersteel Blade”, The storms of Taul”, “Return to the Wheel”, “The Lost Crystals of Qalydon”, “The Pit and the Pinnacle”, “Flight of the Arrowhead”, A Perilous Rescue”, “Escape from Coruscant”, “Free Fall”, and the final episode “Return of the Return of the Jedi”.

Bonus Features: “Home One” Freemakers try to track down a Vector Coil for Lieutenant Valeria’s U-wing., “Thrown Into Battle” battle droid RO-GR tries to make friends with a room full of droids., “Rowan’s Secret Adventure” Blue Squadron must take out the Imperial Strike Base Aurek., “Zander Freemaker Super Pilot Guy” Zander wants to fly a TIE fighter but he must convince Lieutenant Valeria first, a challenge that’s extremely hard to do., “Beware The Gamorrean Flu” Admiral Ackbar tells the Freemakers that two of the best agents are trapped behind an Imperial Blockade and needs a new fuel intermixer. The Freemakers volunteer for the job, but first they have to get arrested”

Even as an adult I become fascinated by the episodes and the spirit of the Fremakers. The writers are very good, animators are right on the mark with the lego characters, the special saber effects and space ships are in some cases as good as what we see in the Star Wars battles from the series. Just saying.

The best thing about being a DVD of course is that there are no ads like when the TV series aired. You can easily stop the program and come back to it where you left off so you can get the kids to bed on time or back to their homework. A good adventure series mainly for a male audience although Kordi and Lieutenant Valeria give good reason for the female viewers. Even the adults can sneak it into the den when the kids go to sleep for a guilty pleasure.

FINAL ANALYSIS: A well-made series with a lot of Adventure. (For kids 4 out of 5 Stars)
