Review by John Michael Delia, Jr.
The Guardians of the Galaxy return to the big screen with hopes of improving their reputation to the aliens of the universe. In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 they are strengthening their bond and becoming more like a family as they survive from one adventure to another. With the team being called to do the impossible the members continue their reckless ways to conquer any foe that gets in their way.
After finishing a job and having to evade an army because of Rocket’s thievery, the team Star Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper), and baby Groot (Vin Diesel), now find themselves stranded on a planet. With Rocket and baby Groot staying behind to repair their ship, they are now challenged when Yondu (Michael Rooker) and his ravagers’ are directed to dispose of the Guardians. But, Rocket gets to be his usual self and enjoy eliminating as many ravagers as he can.

When Star Lord meets his true father Ego (Kurt Russell) and his companion Mantis (Pom Klementieff), the story takes a mysterious twist. And all this is in just the first half hour. Have fun with this one as it flies by with non-stop action.

Director James Gunn and his team do an amazing job displaying the special effects to the max. Including the 3D effect, brings out the graphics even more and is well noticed throughout the film. The character roles make the narrative come alive and keep you entertained. Especially the comedic antics that come from Rocket and Drax, that actually steal the show. Including Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell help give the film some pizzazz as well.
This second chapter, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, is not quite as good as its previous production, but does definitely entertain. This is a good movie that is well worth seeing in the theatre and a plus watching it in 3D with all the awesome special effect. Stick around and see some extra clips during the credits.
Final Grade: I give this film a B+ for its excellent special effects, fantastic action scenes, and unification of storylines.
