“WAR ON FILM”
DVD REVIEW
Writer/Director: Dan Horan
Genre: Documentary/War
By John Delia
Historians, history buffs, scholars and those that want to witness the battles that took place in Europe and the Pacific during World War II get an unforgettable film experience from this DVD. I found myself glued to the screen.
The DVD encompasses some for America’s greatest triumphs and most bitter defeats in this comprehensive and intimate survey of this epic war. With the War in Europe we get a commanding view of the battles and strategy, the men and the machines, and the horror and heroism in eight documentaries.

The War in the Pacific brings the drama and intensity of World War II’s turbulent Pacific Theater through extraordinary footage and intense expert commentary with seven docs produced from the filming during the lengthy war.
Over 6 hours long in 4 discs, I have never seen the war so up close and mind boggling as I did in this presentation. Showing film footage from both allies and axis I felt I was a helpless eyewitness to the devastation that lead to the demise of the despicable dictatorships.
The narration by Jack Perkins is brilliant throughout and the battles are

organized well on the DVD so you can see the progression of the war.
The DVD does contain some disturbing content so be sure that you pre-teens are mature enough to understand the reasons for the conflict.
FINAL ANALYSIS:Â Excellent historical value with an amazing presentation. (4 of 5 Palm Trees)
